  About This Book

  Truck Drivin’ Hero

One mission. One truck driver. Three beautiful women. Time to save the world.

Bill "Hero" Reynolds never expected to be the man who saved the world from an alien invasion. However, when a solar storm hits, his truck is the only one left on the road, and he's recruited for a secret mission. He's got a long way to go and a short time to get there. To make his delivery on time, he'll need help: an adrenaline junkie brunette, a feisty blonde sharpshooter, and a nerdy redheaded scientist. But as they drive America's highways, an extraterrestrial sheriff and his dim-witted robot are hot on their trail, and they won't rest until Hero and his crew are in jail.

Warning: Truck Drivin' Hero is a men's adventure novel and contains explicit scenes of sex between a Regular Joe and his three kick-ass squad members. Seriously, it's hot. Fans of Smokey and the Bandit will love this near-future twist on a classic. If that sounds good to you, then it's time to put that hammer down and give 'em hell!

“Well, that’s not all we talked about. We talked about you,” Speedy said. She bit her lip. “Sunshine?”

“Both of us still have fond memories of being together with you, and you’ve reminded of us of those good times over the past few days. We haven’t felt this alive in a long time. You’ve brought us closer together, in more ways than one,” Sunshine said.

“We’re going to try a relationship either way, but it’s impossible for either of us to deny our feelings for you. We don’t want you to leave again,” Speedy said.

“We want you to stay,” Sunshine explained. “We care for you, and we know you’re capable of great things. We want it to be the three of us, going on missions against the aliens, trying to save the world.”

Hero laid there, looking from girl to girl. Both were making intense eye contact with him, and he didn’t quite know how to respond. Finally, he spoke. “I’m not sure what to say. A week ago, I was just swinging a wrench in Nowheresville. Now I’ve been assembled into a three-person party like I’m playing Final Fantasy, and we’re going to go off and level up and eventually save the world, all the while having mind-blowing sex. Does that about sum it up?”

“The original Final Fantasy had four party members. This is more like Final Fantasy 7, I guess,” Speedy said.

Hero kissed her. “Shut up,” he said softly, and she giggled.

“So, do you accept?” Sunshine asked.

Hero looked at the cute, slender brunette on his left. He looked at the beautiful, voluptuous blonde on his right. “How could I not?”

Both women beamed. “Yay!” Speedy cried while Sunshine gave a little “Woo hoo.” Sunshine leaned in and gave him a kiss, her breasts moving onto his chest as she did so. Hero removed his arm from behind Speedy, letting it trace over Sunshine’s body. As he did that, Speedy threw the blanket off all three of them. She kissed her way down his body, making him shiver with anticipation. As soon as she was at his cock, she took it in her mouth. He gasped into Sunshine’s mouth as Speedy began moving up and down.

“Whoa, slow down. We just got started,” Hero said.

“Well, you just got started,” Sunshine said. “We may have started without you a little bit.”

  “I’m crushed.”

Speedy popped Hero’s cock out of her mouth. “You hadn’t joined our party yet…”

“You think you're about done with that car, Hero?”

Bill Reynolds didn't roll out from under the car. The truth was, he had finished hours ago. However, with the owner of this beautiful Dodge Hellcat not due to pick her up for another two hours, Reynolds couldn't help but admire her from the inside out. He was just glad that Alexandria wasn't the jealous type.

“'Fraid you've got the wrong guy, pal. Nobody here goes by the name 'Hero' anymore, and I'm still on the clock.” He knew it was a useless gesture. Anyone who could tell that the Hellcat's repairs were complete had been watching long enough to get a good look at his face.

“Really? That's how you treat your old army buddy?”

Reynolds rolled out from underneath the muscle car. He wiped some sweat from his forehead before looking up at a tall man with broad shoulders. He knew that the man was about his age, but his stern face made him look older than he was. “How are you doing, Hutch? You didn't have the beard last time I saw you.”

Tim Hutchinson shrugged his shoulders. “I've seen better days,” he said.

“I imagine. Kinda surprised to see your face in public. What are you, number four on the FBI's Most Wanted list?”

Hutch grimaced. “They just moved me up to number one, Hero.”

Reynolds pointed to the sign. “Hey, man. It's just Reynolds now. As in Reynolds Auto Repair. You might have heard my ad on our local Des Moines radio stations. I haven't been called Hero in years now.”

Hutch shrugged again. “Have it your way, Mr. Reynolds. I have a job for you, if you're interested.”

Reynolds let out an exasperated sigh. “If you need me to repair that Mustang, I'll be happy to.” He gestured toward the vehicle in his parking lot that he didn't recognize. A 1984 Mustang GT, cherry red. Just the kind of pussy magnet that he'd have loved to have driven years ago.

“No, Mr. Reynolds, I was hoping that you could do a job with Alexandria for me.”

Hero didn't know how Hutch knew about Alex, but he didn't dare ask. “Alexandria's retired, too, just like Hero,” Reynolds said.

  “Mr. Reynolds-”

“Hutch. I'm not interested in the job,” Reynolds said. “As a courtesy to you for our past friendship, I'm going to pretend that you were never here, but I'll probably end up going to a re-education camp anyway.”

Any mention of the re-education camps was always a buzzkill. A lot of people went, even people that were minor criminals, and many never returned. Those who did were never quite the same.

Hutch sighed. “You don't want that, Mr. Reynolds. Now look, I've been authorized to offer you one million dollars if you-”

“I said no.” Reynolds cut him off. A million dollars was a lot of money for a single mission, no doubt. But he didn't need it, and with a price that big on the mission, it would almost certainly be full of danger. He definitely didn't need that. He turned around and started organizing a tool bench that didn't really need organizing. “Now go on, get out of here.”

A little bit of that old anger crept up in Hutch's voice. “You know, for an old battle buddy, you're being awful rude to me. You haven't even heard who would be accompanying you on the job.”

Reynolds knew that the best way to deal with Hutch's bullshit was not to back down. He turned around and advanced toward the man, using his extra two inches of height to his advantage. “You're damn right I-”

He was interrupted by the Mustang's driver side door closing behind him, just outside the shop. Hutch must have signaled the driver
somehow. Reynolds turned around, There, in a pair of cutoff jean shorts and a pale pink tank top, stood a vision of loveliness. “Hero,” she said, her voice low and soft. “Are you two fighting over me?”

“Nobody's called me Hero in a long time, Speedy.” At least now he knew how Hutch had known about Alexandria.

“Well, nobody's called me Speedy in a long time either,” she said.

“What are you doing working for this clown, darlin'?” Reynolds asked her.

“They needed drivers, and I'm the best in these United States. What's left of 'em, anyway,” Speedy said.

Reynolds turned back to Hutch. “If you got her, what do you need me for?”

“The thing we need moved is bigger than that old Mustang can haul. At least not without attracting quite a bit of attention. We need Alexandria for this job, Mr. Reynolds.”

Reynolds looked over at Speedy, who spoke up. “When they said they needed an old big rig for the job, I reminded them of you. And I said I'd like to see you again, one last time, so they let me come along.” Speedy looked Reynolds up and down, her eyes dilating as she bit her lower lip. “I'm glad I did.”

Reynolds did a once-over right back. Her slender curves were no less sexy than they had been three years ago, and the clothes she was wearing just accentuated them. At this distance, he could just catch the light scent of her shampoo, coming from the soft curls of the brown shoulder-length hair that always drove him wild. Her bright smile and big brown eyes were infectious.

Despite all that, he wasn't feeling arousal. He was feeling protective. Speedy had gotten herself mixed up with the very people who were most likely to get her killed in this post-invasion world.

He made a decision and he knew he would regret it later. He had kept a certain mindset, and it had gotten him through the last three years. Yet, there was no way he could let Speedy do this alone. Not this time. He couldn't let her down again. Without really thinking, he knew it was up to him to get her away from these people safely.

“Yeah,” was all he said, not taking his eyes off of Speedy.

  “Yeah, what?” Hutch asked.

“Yeah, I'll do it. Not for you, though. For her.” He gestured to Speedy, who did a cute little clap and jump at the news.

Hutch smiled a wry smile and gave him a hard pat on his shoulder. “I don't give a fuck what your motivation is, Mr. Reynolds. I'm just glad to hear you're with us.”

“One last thing, Hutch,” he said. “Call me Hero.”

  2

“Help me wake up Alexandria, will ya?” Hero called over his shoulder.

Hutch caught up to him. “I'll be happy to see the ol' girl. I've heard a lot about her.”

Hero opened the door to the garage. “She's sleeping right now, but it's about time to wake up anyway.” He threw the blanket off of Alexandria, then walked around her. “We got a mission, Alex, so get your shoes on.”

The truck gleamed in the dim sunlight coming in from outside. Her blue-and-white striped paint accented the curves of her cab and her chrome accents sparkled. She was the big rig truck of a lifetime, and Hero's first love.

Hutch started toward her. “She's sexy as hell. Can't believe she looks this good despite how old she is.”

“Hey! Don't you be getting any ideas. She doesn't go nowhere without me.”

“Sorry, Hero.” He ran his fingers up her side. “It's just that they don't make 'em how they used to.”

“You touch my gal like that again and you're walking,” Hero said. He climbed into the cab and turned the ignition. Alexandria's engine roared to life.

“She still purrs like a teenager,” Hutch said as he jumped in the cab himself.

“You think I'd let her go to rust? I take good care of her.” Hero took on a more serious tone. “If this mission of yours is dangerous, I'll be holding you responsible for her well-being.”

“Well, I'll let you be the judge of that,” Hutch said.

“Hold that thought. I'm gonna pull her out to the parking lot, then lock up the place.”

Hero drove her out, parked, then closed up the garage. As Hero walked over to his storefront, he looked back at the old girl. Alexandria was a 1977 Mack Superliner. That made her older than he was, though she didn't look it. Her chrome still gleamed in the sun, and her engine sounded brand new. Hero took good care of her, because he knew that age was just a number.

He pulled the Dodge Hellcat out of the bay he was working in, then sent a text message to its owner, Mr. Jones, telling him that it was ready for pick-up. He hastily scribbled a note for Mr. Jones, apologizing for not being able to be here personally for the hand-off. As he was writing the note, he kept looking over at the Mustang. Speedy was behind the wheel, staring at him in her rear-view mirror the entire time. Hutch got in the passenger's seat of the truck while he finished up.

After making sure all the doors were locked, he hopped back in the Mack truck. “So, where to?”

“Just follow Sally for now,” Hutch said.

Hero winced. Not only did he not like flying blind, but just hearing Speedy's real name on Hutch's lips was enough to make him worried. She should not be collaborating with the FBI's Most Wanted.

He flashed his headlights and Speedy took off, tires squealing as she pulled onto the road.

“She knows that we're following her, right?” Hero asked. Alexandria was fast, especially without a load, but she wasn't as fast as a Mustang.

“Don't worry, she's done this before. She knows what she's doing, but I think she's showing off a bit for you,” Hutch said. He reached over and turned on the old CB radio. “Breaker 1-9, this is Hutch. How about you slow it down a notch there, sweetheart?” Sure enough, she stopped accelerating as soon as she hit the speed limit.

“If she's done this before, why not get that same driver to do the job for you?” Hero asked. Hutch didn't say anything. “He's dead, isn't he?”

Hutch laughed. “No, actually, he's just fine. He's got an important job to do for this mission, but he's not the problem. His truck is.”

“You guys ran him until his truck died, is that it?” Silence again. “Look, I don't care. This job is a one-and-done job for me. I'm just making conversation.”

“His truck is fine, but it's not available for this mission. In fact, over ninety-nine percent of cars and trucks on the road today were deemed an unacceptable risk for this job. That's why we had to go outside the resistance for this one. You and Alexandria are one of the only teams in the world that could complete this mission,” Hutch said.

Hero knew when he was being puffed up, and this sure sounded like one of those times. He was a great driver, one of the best, but he wasn't worth all this trouble. And Alexandria couldn't really compete with some of those newer, electric-powered big rigs on the road. He knew that, and he knew that Hutch knew that Hero knew that, and he knew that Hutch knew how Hero would react if he was puffing him up for no reason.

So it had to be true. For whatever reason, it had to be him.

“You hear that, Alexandria?” Hero asked. “They only asked us to do this job because nobody else could. How does that make you feel?”

Alexandria's engine purred beneath him. He smiled and patted the steering wheel.

“You want to tell me why all your own trucks are unacceptable?” Hero asked.

“Are you familiar with sunspots?” Hutch asked.

Hero shrugged. “They're cooler spots than usual on the sun. I don't know much else.”

“Well, I didn't either, until recently. Apparently, they're responsible for a whole bunch of effects. They're closely associated with solar flares, which release huge amounts of energy and radiation,” Hutch said. “Lots of radiation.”

The way he said it set off alarms in Hero's brain. Something that was more dangerous than usual was coming up. His mind went to the first logical conclusion.

“And this radiation, it gets to Earth? Like a nuclear bomb? You've been concerned with the Greys taking over our world governments while the
sun's getting ready to fry us all up?” Hero asked. He thought about pulling the truck over right there and getting his affairs in order.

Hutch held his hands up. “Hey now. I understand why you'd have that reaction, but there's actually a lot wrong with that line of thought. First all of, the sun creates energy by fusion reactions. It's one big nuclear bomb, exploding all the time.”

Hero scoffed. “That puts me at ease.”

“It has been exploding for billions of years, and scientists say it'll be exploding at the same general rate for billions more years, so it's a little silly to get worried about that right now.”

“Well then what's the real problem? Why don't you just tell me why you need me instead of talking about the sun?” He kept his eye on Speedy's car, sure that she was about to pull onto I-35 toward I-80. A moment later, her turn signal started blinking, showing that he was right.

“The Earth's magnetic field blocks most of the radiation, but not all of it. You still have to wear sunblock when you go to the beach, for instance.”

Hero thought about that. “Oh yeah, I did know that. And when you're outside the magnetic field, you're not protected. That's why the Apollo astronauts saw bright flashes when they closed their eyes,” Hero said, remembering the story from his school days. “Okay, I'm following so far.”

“But solar flares can cause more radiation than our atmospheric shielding is able to block.”

“And let me guess, scientists think a solar flare is coming, right?” Hero asked.

“Actually, there's something called a coronal mass ejection, which causes even more radiation than a traditional solar flare,” Hutch explained.
